The Parteeeh

How do my little ladybugs?
Happy Halloween!!

Oh. My.
Why did anyone not try to talk some sense into me?
Having a kids halloween party?
haha...Ok it WAS super fun.
AND super CRAZY.

Getting the table ready, popcorn boxes!!

Our little ghostie, hubby made 4 of them!

Our bat lights!

Spooky hallway entrance

We had 24 kids here!
That included 2 nieces, a nephew and our 3 kids.
Thank goodness we had the forethought to
organize some games.
That was fun and kept the kids all wrangled in one room
together for a while.
It really was so fun though.
They were all sooooo super ADORABLE in their costumes!

My little party animals!  Hubs made the spooky house...

Game time!

Arrrrgh!  I'm a pirate in case ye didn't know!

A vacuuming pirate...don't see that everyday!

Me pirate hubby!

Just a glimpse of the food we had...this is near the end of the party.

Slimy punch...almost gone...nummers!

Our living room...the aftermath...wooooow...easy to clean up at least!
Get the vacuum out again!

Scary, I know.

It was awesome, great, fun, spookTACULAR!
Not doin' it again.
; )
For a while at least.

I'll be taking out my little trick or treaters tonight.
Have a fun night, everyone!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Hello my sweet cupcakes, it's Friday.
I'm so glad.
This has been a rather tough week.
Last night we went to the girls family dance at school.
It was so cute to see the kids in their costumes and do something fun and happy.

This weekend we are hosting a Halloween Party for our kids
and their friends.
We are spookifying our house!
Well, not too scary.
We have 5 year olds coming as well.
Soooooo looking forward to the weekend.

And Monday...Halloween!
Halloween also happens to be my hubby's birthday.
Spooky guy.
: )

Here are my fill it in answers!
Go visit Lauren for lots more fill it ins.

1.   When I was a kid I wanted to be  a cruise director like Julie from 'The Love Boat' when I grew up.

2.   As an adult, my dream job would be a handbag designer and work from a gorgeous home office.

3.  W hen I was younger I wanted to be just like Niki Taylor.  I still love her!

4. The childhood Halloween costume that I remember most was when I was a goblin.  My sister and I both were and we got to wear masks.  I thought we were so scary!

5.  My favorite childhood toy was  my skipping rope and my Fonzie radio. Ahhh...the simple days.

6.  The time I got into the biggest amount of trouble when I was a kid was when my sister and I and our friend drew all over our friends bedroom wall.   eek.

7.  I get daily inspiration from my kids and my hubby, they amaze me every single day and renew my spirit.

Have a spectacularly fantabulous weekend, lovelies!

Ellen's Scary Montage

So yesterday's post was sad.
That's how I've been feeling lately.
I don't want to leave it like that, so here is something that makes me smile.
And I hope it makes you smile too.
Actually it makes me laugh!

I LOVE Ellen's show.
She is hilarious and she is notorious for scaring her guests.
I don't know if I would laugh like these guests do
but it sure is fun to watch!!
Some 'scares' to lead you up to Halloween!
Enjoy.

Hugs

Hello my lovelies.
I was planning on doing one more Pink style post for October on Tuesday.
But I haven't got around to it this week.
So sorry if you tuned it to see a style post.
I promise I will do more soon.

My Grandma is in the hospital and is very sick.
I drove 2 hours to see her today and 2 hours home.

Lots of emotions this week.
I promise much happier posts very soon.
Go hug someone you love.
That would make me smile.

Celebrity style crush - Dianna Agron

Welcome to Monday, sweet 'ums!
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend.
It's a brand new week!
I am so in the mood to shop right now
but I shouldn't.
So instead I decided to put up some pics
of Glee's
Dianna Agron.

I can swoon over her pretty dresses and such.
: )

She always looks gorgeous on the red carpet
and has a cool vibe off the red carpet as well.
Here are some of my favourite looks.

I love all these looks so much, she can be classy, or classy with an edge, or hipster chic.
Love it.
I especially love her hair in the last pic.
I am debating cutting off my hair and have been for a while...
and I really like that style...
heheee....
we'll see.

Fill in the Blank Friday

Hey, my lovely bloggy buds!
It's Friday...do I hear a collective *sigh*?
Or maybe a woot, woot!?

Hubby and I get to go on a little date this weekend.
I'm kind of happy 'bout that.
: )
Ok, I'm linking up with Lauren from The Little Things We Do
It's all about fall!

1.   Nothing says fall like  going for walks and feeling the fresh fall air on my cheeks!

2.   My favorite autumnal tradition is making a big pot of homemade soup after doing a bit of fall cleaning (kinda like spring cleaning but I LOOOOVE to mop my floors so I do that and then make soup.  I know, weird.)

3.  My favorite fall treat is chai tea lattes.  It goes well with those fall walks. ; )

4. Fall makes me think of  Thanksgiving and Christmas because  I feel the need to start getting ready for both of these holidays early!  And it's fun.

5.  Autumn free form word association, go!  Red and yellow leaves, crunchy, fresh air, scarves, warm sweaters, beauty.

6.  My go-to outfit in the fall is  a cozy sweater and a warm scarf, leggings or jeans and cute boots.  Sometimes a hat too!

7.  My favorite fall holiday is (Halloween or Thanksgiving)  Thanksgiving.  Did you think I was going to say Halloween!?  heeheee....Though Halloween is so fun (obvi), I SO love thanksgiving.  Warmth, yummy turkey dinners, family, walks in the park, that warm, cozy feeling.

Have a magically delicious weekend, everyone. ; )
Hug someone you love.

Brave Girls Club

Bonjour, mon amis!
*Hello, my friends!*
Did you know Canada is bilingual?
I'm not, but...
haha..I only speak English but Canada's other official language is French.
That's mostly spoken on the other side of the country.
There's a whole love/hate thing going on but we'll save that for another day.

Have you guys ever heard of The Brave Girls Club?
I heard about this website through one of my bestest friends.
I was extremely down a year or so ago and needing to chat.
I sent her a long email venting about my stresses.
She replied back with wonderful things to say as she always does,
making me feel better.
She also included a quote from
It was one of the most warm, uplifting things I had ever heard.
It was written so eloquently and made me feel like I was so loved.
I had to know more so I checked out their website
and signed up for their Brave Girl Daily Truths emails.
They are such a gift and reading them is one of the highlights of my day.

Here is one from last week:

Dear Unmatchable Girl,

Today it is time for you to be kind.  To you.  Just try, sweet friend,
just try...you are the only one who knows the parts of you that need kindness the most,
and for this reason, only you can provide this kind of deep
kindness that you so need.

So today, please just try to be kind to the weak parts of yourself.
Be kind to your addictions and your frailties, your mistakes and all
of your human parts.  Rather than treating these parts of yourself
with hatred and disgust...please just take hands with these parts and
say, "I am with you, we will make it through this."

There are these kinds of parts to ALL of us.  These parts are lonely,
scared and act out in ways that make us sometimes feel ashamed.  BUT,
they ARE parts of us...and what if we just TRY to treat them with kindness,
to put our arms around these parts of ourselves and let them know that no matter
what...we will work hard to BE with these parts and teach them with love and
truth.

Just try, sweetest girl...just try.  BE KIND to ALL of you.  Let her know that it's
gonna be ok...that you are gonna love her no matter what as she works through all of this.

It will be worth it.
You are so deeply loved.
xoxo

Amazing, don't you agree?
Usually I am in tears after reading these
but it's because I know they are the TRUTH.
If you are interested, check them out at their website.
And a bit of their story here.
They have gone through unbelievable hardships but manage to stay positive
and help others.
It's really worth it and don't we all need a lovely boost now and then?

Accessory to pink

Hello my little style divas!
Here is my PINK
style post for the week in honour of
Breast Cancer Awareness month.
One of my most amazingly wonderful blogger friends,
had a great suggestion for remembering to check 'the girls' each month.
She checks them each month on the date of her birthday.
For example, I was born on the 19th, so every month, I'll check 'the girls'
on the 19th.
What a great way to remember.
Thanks, Loulou!

This week I decided to accessorize with pink.

I have a pink belt that I love so I put it with this black knit shirt of mine.
I like this shirt for fall, it's not too heavy
and it has cute detail on the sleeves as you can see a bit better below.

I also put the outfit with these pink heels I have.
I think they are sweet.

Wow, I really wasn't trying to stick my chest out in that pic...hahah
but I guess this post IS all about the GIRLS!

I hope you all are having a great Tuesday!
Do you have any tips for remembering to do a breast self exam each month?
I admit I do forget so I'm going to try the birth date trick.
; )
Take care of yourselves, lovelies.

Fill in the blank Friday

How-do my little cupcakes?
It's Friday and I'm a bit behind putting up this post today.
I was fighting a tummy bug the past couple of days.
Hope that's over with.
Then this morning I had a chai with my lovely friend.
*So fun*
Then it was off to pick up the kids at school
(they have short days on Fridays)
and then to the mall for lunch with my parents!

Busy busy!
Link up with Lauren...

1.  The most selfless thing I've ever done was  hmm...I want to say being a mommy but that gives me joy too, so does it count?  You really do give up a lot to be a good mommy but you get a lot back too.  M'kay this question is hard.

2.   When it comes to working out  I'd SO rather not.  I need to be more disciplined.

3.  A woman should always  make time for herself during the day, even if it's just 5 minutes alone in the laundry room sneaking a piece of dark chocolate.  Oops, have I said too much? (And this kind of contradicts my answer to #1, this is difficult today!!)

4. I wish I could  fly  and then I'd  avoid such long commutes everywhere.

5.  A best friend is someone who you can laugh and cry with, who sees you at your worst and still loves you.

6.  I can't get enough of  smoothies right now.  I'm addicted (finally something healthy that I can't get enough of!)

7.  This weekend I am  going to my sister's house with the family!

Have a super dooper fantastically wonderful weekend everyone!

Cut a rug, baby

Hello, my sweet pickles!
*I always say sweet peas, I just wanted to change it up today!*
Thank you for the lovely comments
you left on my blog yesterday.
And everyday!
Your comments always make my day extra special.

Do you guys watch Dancing with the Stars?
I do, it's one of my escape shows.
I would totally be on that show if I could.
: )
Julianne Hough (star of Footloose and Ryan Seacrest's honey)
was back last night and did a monster of a number
to the Footloose theme.
Killer!
I loved it.
Maybe you'd care to watch.
If not, that's ok too.
I absolutely adore her!
In my dreams, I can dance like this.
I may have been known to try, in the midst of vacuuming my living room and such.
; )

Pink Style

Welcome to my second style post of October!
As promised each style post in October, starting today
will feature something
Pink
in honor of Breast Cancer awareness...
please if you haven't already this month,
do a breast self-exam,
or get a mammogram.
You are worth it, my lovely.

So I have this pink tank top with frilly sleeves and it's really cute.
Got it for about $6.00 at a local discount store.
But since it's fall I wanted to see what I could put with it to 'fall it up'.

I chose a blazer, some skinny jeans and these boots I just got.

Blazer: RW&Co., Jeans: AE, Boots: Alfred Sung, Watch: Fossil, Lip colour: Avon

I even did pink lips just for you!
If you have been around my blog at all, you know I love COLOUR! (oh yes, and I'm Canadian so we spell it colour, not color...heehee...)
I really like a shot of colour no matter what the season.

Do you?

Gobble gobble

Howdy everyone!
Is it Monday already?
Since it is Thanksgiving Monday here,
a holiday,
I have pretty much been in total holiday mode.
That is, I haven't done too much today!

I did get out for a walk and it felt so good!
Which is good because we've had some giant, yummo
meals this weekend.
We had a turkey dinner at my parents house
on Saturday night
and brunch at my in-laws yesterday.
*spoiled*

My Grandma, who is 96 (yep!) was here for Thanksgiving too.
I'm on the left and that's my sis on the right...

And my pumpkin pies turned out...uhhh...so-so.
The pumpkin filling part was really good!
The crusts...meh.
Coulda been better,
they were pretty tough.
My daughter must have agreed, she just ate the filling...
heehee...
I need more practice.
I guess I'll just HAVE to make more pie.
That means I better get on the treadmill.

My mom had the kids make their own caramel apples!
They had fun making those and then they were off to play.

Then one of the adults had the idea to dip little
chocolate pumpkins into the caramel and candy!

We had a blast eating those little bites of goodness.

Back to the normal routine tomorrow.
Hope you all had a great weekend and a happy Monday!

Fill in the blank Friday

It's Friday, girls!
Speaking of girls, have you checked 'the girls' lately?

Isn't that the cutest pic?
heehee..
It's October which is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Go check the girls.  Please.

I made pumpkin pies this morning!
They are in the oven, the crust is reaaally rough.
But hopefully it tastes ok.
eeek..
While I'm waiting for them to bake, I am going to fill in the blanks!
Linking up with Lauren!

1.   Something popular that I can't stand/just don't "get" is  the feather trend.  Don't know if I love it yet.   I never get trends at first though and then I always hop on board late!

2.   Something unpopular that I secretly love is  bean salad.  The vinegary kind.  Sorry friends in my immediate vicinity.

3.  When I've had a bad day I usually talk about it with my hubby.  He is such a good listener and always puts things in perspective.  Or I lose myself in reality tv.

4. I'd prefer eating out   to eating in  any day.  Not too healthy though, or cheap!

5.  Something that makes me nervous is  job interviews!

6.  Something worth fighting for is  your happiness.  Never give up on finding something or someone you love.

7.  When people think of me, I hope they think  she is a kind-hearted person, a great mom and a good friend.

Happy Weekend, everyone!

When it rains...

Yep, it pours.
Literally and figuratively.

I have had 2 sick kids (one to go...?  I hope not)
It has been raining for 2 days which is alright for a little while
but I'm hoping it doesn't last too much longer.
It's the start of Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada!

via
I love Thanksgiving, the start of fall,
everything looks pretty,
the wonderful welcoming scents of
thanksgiving dinner.
Family time and remembering what we are
so thankful for.
So even though it's been a rough week
*or two*
I am always thankful for those things in my life that are so good.
I am thankful for my wonderful family.
I have the most amazing hubby and 3 fantastic little girls.
I am thankful we are all healthy, you know, in the grand
scheme of things.
{These little buggies will pass}

I have wonderful parents, a sister and in-laws who I love and who love me.
I have a lovely home that envelopes me in warmth.
And I'm thankful for you, my bloggy friends.
I just adore that you visit me and I adore visiting you too.
It's just so darn FUN!

I am responsible for bringing pumpkin pies to my parents place for dinner on Saturday.
*Wish me luck*
I am going to try making the crusts myself.
eeek.
I will let you know how it goes. ; )

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian sweet peas!
