The scary thing reveal

Happy Monday, sweet peas!
Did everyone have a good weekend?
It's hard to believe it was the last weekend of August.
Camping was good, LOTS of flies, wasps and mosquitos though.
So that was grody.
Otherwise, we had a nice time, lying on the beach in the sunshine.

So remember I was telling you about planning something that was a bit scary for me
Well, sorry to be all mysterious but I can now share!
⎨I couldn't share before because it involved a surprise for one of my best friends
and I couldn't risk her finding out in case she read it here!⎬

My friend who moved away last October is having a BIG birthday in September.
So I wanted to do something special with her or for her.
So I am flying out to see her in September and we are going to spend a few days together at a nice place,
maybe do some spa treatments, have yummy meals in good restaurants and tour around
the beaches in her area.

No problem right?  It sounds fantastic.
The problem is I have never gone ANYWHERE by myself.
I have never flown alone and it freaks me right OUT!
Not only that, it's not a direct flight and I have to transfer to a little airplane.
I am worried about so many things.
Losing luggage, getting lost, feeling alone, tiny planes
and being homesick.
Usually whenever I have left my kids, my hubby and I go away together.
This time it's just me, myself and I.

I am really excited about seeing my friend and spending time together.  I really miss her
and I know we'll have an amazingly fun time!
I know I'll be so happy that I went and I'll be a stronger person to do this all on my own.

In the meantime, I may not sleep until I'm back home.
haha...Just kidding.
*sorta*

I leave in a few weeks!
Wish me luck!
And have the most amazingly, wonderful week, sweet peas!
xo

*Do you like to travel alone?*
I'd love to hear from you, I need to hear from the pros. ; )

Hello Sherri

Hmm... Daunting I am sure - I haven't really done it of late (or for quite some time with motherhood) but I loved my own company and being on my own whenever it suited.

It is very confronting and overpowering - they fear of being on our own.

I know you will be fine and you are sending yourself on this journey for some reason to grow - to grow you so you can teach your girls.

I know we will talk more about it before you go.

One of my favourite parts in a movie (or the movie in whole for that matter) was with Tom Hanks at the very end of the movie "Castaway".
Do you remember when he stood at the crossroads at the end - he had to choose which route to take - he was on his own.
There wouldn't have been a wrong decision as it was all part of his journey in life.

take care my friend

x
Loulou

(ps when you come to Australia to see me - you may have to take 2 planes as well :))

hello! just stumbled onto your blog and it is so cute! Please tell me that canadian flag means you are in Canada? I have yet to meet a canadian blogger.... in fact, I am going to be in canada for the first time ever in a couple weeks. My husband and I are going to see niagara falls and toronto, and I really wanted to see a moose and I don't think we will be far north enough.

I really hope you are from canada, otherwise I am just rambling on about nothing! haha well, I am following your blog now!

AND, I am also (shamelessly) plugging a giveaway on my blog. But it is for a really cool vintage t-shirt (winner gets to choose their design from the website) so I don't feel too guilty about it ;) The Mitten State Vintage T-Shirt Giveaway!

I would take as many planes as it took to come to your neck of the woods, Loulou! I have always wanted to travel there....someday!!
Bucket list item for me. : )

I love the movie Castaway...it's funny you mentioned that movie, I remember watching it thinking, how would one survive for so long all alone? It really made me sob, that movie. But it's a good one!

Beautiful photo!
I totally get where you are coming from. I have been writing on my blog recently about my trip to Sydney for a weekend, and was having all sorts of issues about having to do it alone! Strange, because when I was younger I wouldn't have hesitated doing things by myself, but now as a mother I am totally not used to being along that the thought of it was quite terrifying!
You sound like you are doing a significantly bigger trip than me. I did find however, that I did find that it was good for me to get out of my comfort zone, and trust that everything was going to be ok. By about half way through the second day, I realise that had stopped being anxious about it, and actually quite enjoyed it. THere are some really helpful comments on a couple of my blog posts that my be helpful for your too! good luck!
