Dancing with the Stars
I like 'reality' shows.
Right now I am sucked into the Big Brother vortex,
why oh why do I watch these shows?
I think they give you brain rot.
But I can't stop.
I do enjoy watching Dancing with the Stars though.
The other night they announced the new cast!
It'll be very interesting, I think!
Ricki Lake
Rob Kardashian
Chaz Bono
Kristin Cavallari
Chynna Phillips
David Arquette
Elisabetta Canalis
Nancy Grace
Hope Solis
Ron Artest
J.R. Martinez
Carson Kressley
I am really excited about David Arquette. He's hilarious and I think he'll be a lot of fun to watch.
And I really like Carson Kressley, always entertaining!
It'll be interesting to see how Chaz Bono does as well.
My hubby (although he would never admit watching the show) will I'm sure be cheering for George Clooney's ex, Elisabetta Canalis.
Hmmm...do you think George would show up to support his ex?
A girl can only hope.
: )
What's your fave reality show?

Tuesday Ten - Link Party
Hey sweet peas!
It's Tuesday, and I was perusing some blogs and saw a link party over at
Miss Mommy's blog.
She says to post a list of 10 anything. 10 favourite books, 10 favourite pics on Pinterest.
Anything!
It's a great way to get to know each other better.
My Tuesday 10 is my 10 Favourite Movies.
I thought this might be a tough one, to come up with 10 movies that I love.
But surprisingly it wasn't.
Most of these are movies that I could watch over and over and never get tired of.
Here they are in no particular order! This is going to be long-winded.
1. Legally Blonde - a fun escape, as you may or may not know, I love Reese Witherspoon. For whatever reason, this movie makes me smile and it always brightens my mood. She is just so happy and good.
2. Practical Magic - I like the sisterly bond in this movie
3. 50 First Dates - SO hilarious. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. One of my faves. I saw this movie in the theater a few weeks after my twin babies were born. It was my first night out since their birth and it was so free-ing to be out! I also sobbed like a baby at the end when she comes up from below the boat deck.....ugh, it still gets me. In a really good way though!
4. The Sound of Music - I always used to watch this on Christmas Eve when I was a teenager. My sister and I would sleep in the basement and make a big comfy bed out of sleeping bags and pillows. It would start around midnight and I'd only make it about an hour and then I'd fall asleep. I finally bought it so I can watch it whenever I like. But to this day it reminds me of the wonderful feeling of Christmas Eve.
5. Some Like it Hot - Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. I was never an old movie fan but in University I took a Film class and we watched all sorts of 'interesting' movies. This was one of the better ones and I fell in love with it. It's funny and innocent and cute and I still love it to this day. Highly recommend it!
Let's take a break...I feel the need to explain...as you can see, I like happy, girly, fun movies. Since I had babies, I sincerely cannot stand to watch anything too serious.
Especially if it involves kids in a negative way.
(I read The Lovely Bones after my twins were born and it scarred me for life...great book, bad timing, I can't see the movie and probably never will).
I used to tease my Mom about how she couldn't stand to watch violent movies. Well, I'm eatin' crow now!
I get it, Mom. : )
Ok, back to the list!
6. Life is Beautiful - Ok one exception to what I just finished telling you. This movie was amazing and yes I sobbed for an hour after (father and son in a concentration camp....can you imagine how that affected me?!) This is one I don't watch over and over. But it is exactly as the title suggests, beauty amongst something so ugly.
7. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - oh how I love this movie! Honestly! It is a must for me each and every Christmas. It puts me in the Christmas spirit, it's just not Christmas without watching this movie! I laugh every single year. Yes, I own it. Classic.
8. To Kill a Mockingbird - this is another movie I can't really watch over and over but it was such a great movie, another classic. I really love Gregory Peck (and Cary Grant she says randomly, he's not in this one) so really, any movie with them will do. I really am not an old movie fan, but these two guys were real movie stars!
9. The Holiday - I really like Cameron Diaz, Something About Mary is another good one I like to watch now and again. The Holiday is one that I like to watch as I curl up on my couch on a snowy winter day with a cup of chai latte and my favourite pillow and blankie. The movie just feels like a warm, cozy blanket. And I swoon over that 'tent' in the girl's room...
10. The Hangover - aaahhh betcha didn't see that one coming did ya?! I had no desire whatsoever to see this movie. But when my hubby and I watched it, I was a fan. I laughed so hard, and it was such a surprise. Love those crazy boys!

The scary thing reveal
Happy Monday, sweet peas!
Did everyone have a good weekend?
It's hard to believe it was the last weekend of August.
Camping was good, LOTS of flies, wasps and mosquitos though.
So that was grody.
Otherwise, we had a nice time, lying on the beach in the sunshine.
So remember I was telling you about planning something that was a bit scary for me
in this post?
Well, sorry to be all mysterious but I can now share!
⎨I couldn't share before because it involved a surprise for one of my best friends
and I couldn't risk her finding out in case she read it here!⎬
My friend who moved away last October is having a BIG birthday in September.
So I wanted to do something special with her or for her.
So I am flying out to see her in September and we are going to spend a few days together at a nice place,
maybe do some spa treatments, have yummy meals in good restaurants and tour around
the beaches in her area.
No problem right? It sounds fantastic.
The problem is I have never gone ANYWHERE by myself.
I have never flown alone and it freaks me right OUT!
Not only that, it's not a direct flight and I have to transfer to a little airplane.
I am worried about so many things.
Losing luggage, getting lost, feeling alone, tiny planes
and being homesick.
Usually whenever I have left my kids, my hubby and I go away together.
This time it's just me, myself and I.
I am really excited about seeing my friend and spending time together. I really miss her
and I know we'll have an amazingly fun time!
I know I'll be so happy that I went and I'll be a stronger person to do this all on my own.
In the meantime, I may not sleep until I'm back home.
haha...Just kidding.
*sorta*
I leave in a few weeks!
Wish me luck!
And have the most amazingly, wonderful week, sweet peas!
xo
*Do you like to travel alone?*
I'd love to hear from you, I need to hear from the pros. ; )

Fill in the Blank Friday
Hello, sweet peas!
It's Friday, who's happy?!
We are going camping this weekend, one last trip before the end of summer holidays.
It'll be nice to relax before the big whirlwind of school, activities, job-hunting begins!
It's Fill in the Blank Friday, linking up with Lauren over at The Little Things We Do.
Here we go!
1. One of life's most simple pleasures is sitting in my backyard in the warm summer evening.
2. Bullying makes me want to punch someone. (I know, that sounds kind of wrong and ironic but it angers me, lets say that!)
3. I like Hawaii because, it's warm and always smells flowery.
4. Supple is a funny word.
5. If I had to choose one beauty product to use for the rest of eternity it would be lipgloss!
6. I'm happy that my family is happy and healthy.
7. I would never skydive. To purposely jump out of a plane, well, I just don't get that. : )
Happy Weekend, my wonderful sweet peas! ♥

vintage swim caps
I can't believe I'm about to admit it but I was watching
Bachelor Pad 2 on Monday night...
I know, I know...
*insert groans here*
hahah but c'mon, I know some of you are watching it too!
Anyway, I really loved the vintage swim caps the girls wore in that episode!
The colours are what I really loved about them.
How adorable is this one for a little girl!
Shop here if you want one!
No swim cap in this one but I loved the suit.
Perfect for hiding all the wobbly bits, to quote Bridget Jones. : )
After having twins and then a third kid,
the more coverage the better.
Unfortunately.
Hmmm....did I share too much there?
heehee....
Have a swimmingly wonderful day!

flower shop
It was such a gorgeous weekend here, so hot and sunny!
The girls and I decided to set up a play flower shop outside with a cash register and all
and take turns being customers and florists.
I always wanted to have my own flower shop,
just like Janet on Three's Company.
haha...!
I always wanted to have my own flower shop,
just like Janet on Three's Company.
haha...!
We had so much fun and put together some lovely bouquets,
if we do say so ourselves.

until we meet again
I really really really hate goodbyes.
Really.
I've been lucky in my life, I haven't had too many really hard goodbyes to deal with yet.
I remember being in grade 3 and my best friend was moving away.
I felt empty saying goodbye for the last time and walking home from her house
knowing she would not be there the next time I walked by.
To this day, I remember the feeling.
This weekend, we were at a fantastic party to send off some wonderful friends on a new adventure.
This past year, two of my good friends have moved away and it feels like I'm
that kid whose best friend was leaving.
These girls became special in my life and were there during important times in my life.
I am not the kind of person that lets people in easily.
When I find someone I really connect with, it's pretty special to me.
I know that we will always keep in touch and be in each other's hearts and who woulda thought I'd say it but
thank goodness for Facebook! ; P
I value all my friendships so much, you know who you are girls! xo
And to the ones I said goodbye to this year and this weekend, let's not say goodbye and instead,
*until we meet again*

I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

fill in the blank friday
Happy Friday, sweet peas!
This week has been interesting.
I'm happy the weekend is here.
It's supposed to be hot here for the next little while,
which I know a lot of you are tired of.
But we haven't had that many really hot days.
It's hard to believe there are only a couple of weeks left in August.
It's Fill in the Blank Friday,
linking up with Lauren,
go check her out!
1. My idea of pure perfection would be a beach house on the water with my family.
2. Love makes the world go 'round.
3. If it weren't for having to work I'd travel and live somewhere hot 6 months of the year.
4. Bloggers are an incredibly supportive and caring community of people!
5. If I had millions of dollars I'd buy you a car, and YOU get a car and YOU get a car...!
6. I'm glad it's Friday because my hubby can spend the weekend with us, no work!
7. Something I'm excited about is relaxing on one more camping trip this summer!
Have a wonderful weekend, sweet peas!

what's on my bedside table...
This is what I woke up to this morning
*sweet peas!*
How appropriate, don't you think?
I am looking after my parents house and yard while they are on holidays right now
and my mom always has a big patch of sweet peas in her garden.
They are blooming like crazy right now.
She told me to go ahead and cut some, it also helps keep them blooming.
*Lucky me*
I could smell their sweet scent the second I woke up this morning.
I like to call my kids my little sweet peas so that is one reason why I called my blog sweet pea.
It also reminds me of my mom because she always plants sweet peas.
She used to call my sister and I 'my little sweet petunias'
so I debated calling my blog sweet petunia.
I feel like I'm rambling here.
Anyhoo, just thought I'd share what was on my bedside table this morning.
I also have my journals and magazines as well as water on my bedside table.
Sometimes I might have the current book I'm reading on there as well.
What's on your bedside table?

out of the zone
I don't want to dwell on the fact that I'm a bit stressed right now,
*lots* going on.
But it has got me thinking about doing things that are out of my comfort zone.
Doing things that scare me.
I would say that I play on the safe side of life most times.
I like to stay within the confines of my comfort zone.
As I get older I am less afraid of some things
and more afraid of other things.
I am less afraid of what people think of me.
I just don't care as much.
I mean, I DO care, just not as much.
And I like the way that feels.
I am more afraid of taking chances and doing things that are potentially dangerous.
I have children that I want to see grow up.
And I use the term *dangerous* quite loosely.
Like flying in an airplane.
Every time I go away without my kids I get a little more freaky.
Stuff like that.
I really don't want to wake up when I'm 80 and regret not doing things when I was younger.
Fear is a crappy thing.
It really does paralyze me sometimes.
I am planning something right now that is
*for sure*
out of my comfort zone.
To most people it would be no big deal.
People do it every day.
But for me it is a bit of a big deal.
Once it's all finalized, I will share.
You'll probably laugh that I am nervous about it at all.
So from now until then, I probably won't sleep.
I'm scared but I'm excited too.
And I'll try to keep in mind that...
"Comfort zones are most often expanded through discomfort." - Peter McWilliams
What have you done that was out of your comfort zone?
Do you force yourself to 'do something once a day that scares you'?

mish mash
*at a local market*
Well we are back from our little vacation,
we were just gone for 5 days but it seemed like longer
which is nice.
It was warm, sunny and relaxing. It takes us 9 hours to drive there, but it's so worth it!
Now that its mid-AUGUST (eeek! how did that happen?), it's time to
start thinking about getting back to reality.
This week and next my daughter has a couple of appointments
related to her hearing and speech difficulties.
She doesn't have severe difficulties but enough that she has been in speech therapy
on and off for 5 years now.
She also has to have her annual hearing test due to her slight loss of hearing
in one ear.
Plus we will probably do some back to school shopping this week,
which is actually a lot of fun!
But it can also be overwhelming,
and *expensive*
with 3 girls to shop for.
But we'll have fun doing it because, well, it's shopping! : )
It's also time that I start looking for a job probably.
I was laid off my job in May (a welcome thing so don't worry about me) and thought I would take the summer off
and start looking for something around mid-August.
And that time is here.
Already???!!
I'm not ready to back to work!
I'm having too much fun!
But I guess once the girls are in school again, it'll be a good time for me to go back.
I haven't had to job-hunt or do an interview in over 11 years!
*gulp*
I'm a bit nervous.
So I haven't had to think about work, school, appointments, the girls' extracurricular activities,
in a couple of months.
It's all just a bit overwhelming all of a sudden.
But we do still have a couple of weeks left of summer holidays so we'll try and
jam-pack all the fun we can into it!
We have one more camping trip planned and a couple of outings during the days.
It'll be wonderful.
Why does time have to pass so quickly?
Ok, so interview tips anyone? How do you stay confident and not let the nerves get the best of you?
Happy Monday, sweet peas! Have a fantastic week!

making memories
Vacay is almost over
AND I have internet access for who knows how long so I thought I'd sneak in a
quick post.
You know I can't tear myself away from you guys for TOO long!
I can't wait to catch up with all of you!
I'm posting some family pics, I hope it's not like watching people's home movies and I leave you bored. But I had to share just a few.
We have been going to the same place for three summers in a row now.
My parents used to bring my sister and I here as well when we were kids. I have so many great memories here.
We just love being by the water,
the hot days,
the warm evenings.
We stay in a motel that has an indoor and an outdoor pool, a little playground
and outdoor movie nights.
It's so pretty, I wish you could all be here too.
We have been playing on the beach and going out for yummy dinners.
Touring the beautiful countryside full of vineyards and orchards.
Relaxing.
It's always sad when it's time to leave.
But we'll always have the wonderful family memories to take home with us.
Back to reality soon!
Is there a place you have great memories of as a kid? Do you still go there?
Talk soon, my sweet peas!

warmth
i am somewhere warm right now,
it's so nice to feel the hot sun!
i can't get internet to work
but i'll be back early next week.
*i ♥ summer*
i can't even post pics right now.
frustrating!
i guess that's a giant sign to unplug for now.
see you next week!

I would have to say that Reese Witherspoon is my fave
movie star.
She is a wonderful mom, fabulous actress and has
*great style*
Even, one of my daughter's middle name is Reese, I just loved the name.
Bonus that she is just a great role model.

Thank you Reese, for being a real role model that my little girls (and grown up girls!)
can look up to. ♥
